I'll dominate 'credible boxer' Jake Paul - Anthony Joshua

Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul face-off

The British boxer prepares to battle the American YouTuber in an eight-round match which will be streamed live on Netflix.

Briton Anthony Joshua said he will "overwhelm entirely" Jake Paul and "overpower" his opponent as the combatants came face-to-face to promote next month's bout.

Former two time unified heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua battles social media star turned fighter Jake Paul - in what is, by the numbers, a massive disparity - at Miami venue on 19 December.

Boxer's Attitude

"I plan to damage his features and damage his physique. I aim to demonstrate I'm superior," the British boxer, 35, declared.

"I plan to overwhelm him. That's the boxer's mindset.

"I will genuinely try to cause him pain. That's my goal."

Respectful Interaction

In spite of those words, a relaxed Anthony Joshua and internet personality Jake Paul - typically recognized for his dramatics - shared friendly words and remained civil with each other.

Paul instead criticized former Joshua opponent the Cameroonian fighter and described him as "a joke" after the Cameroonian declined a bout proposal.

Taking Aim at Fury

Joshua, meanwhile, criticized British rival Tyson Fury - and rejected a large bet 'Tyson Fury' says he will place on a Paul victory.

"[Paul] is superior to Tyson Fury - he's present here," Joshua commented.

"I acknowledge that."

Legitimate Opponent

Despite stating he plans to hurt Jake Paul, Joshua declined to speak negatively about his opponent's boxing ability.

"Jake is a serious fighter," he remarked.

Paul's History

Jake Paul - who first rose to fame on the Disney Channel - has mainly boxed mixed martial artists or past-their-prime fighters since entering professional boxing.

He was defeated by Briton Fury in 2023.

Financial Attraction

Still, the inexperienced fighter remains one of the sport's largest financial successes, frequently receiving huge paydays.

Forecast and Belief

The 28-year-old forecast a stoppage in the fourth or fifth round and claimed he would prevent the highly-expected Joshua–Fury fight, which is apparently in the works for two years from now.

"The next fight will be me versus Tyson Fury in the coming year," Paul stated.

Size Difference

As both boxers engaged in the customary face-off, with their height and weight contrast clearly visible, it highlighted just how improbable this whole event is - and how astonishing it is that the fight is actually going ahead.
